Recently, TriLite announced the launch of the Trixel® 3 Laser Beam Scanning (LBS) projector. The Trixel® 3 combines display engines, control electronics, and TriLite's unique Trajectory Control Module (TCM) software, providing all the system-level components for evaluation, application development, and testing. This allows customers to quickly develop prototypes of AR glasses, thereby shortening time to market.

To achieve widespread adoption of AR glasses, one key factor is weight. Regular glasses typically weigh around 25 to 30 grams. Therefore, the weight of AR glasses also needs to be close to this range for consumers to accept them. The total weight of the glasses, including lenses, batteries, electronic components, and optical systems, needs to be considered.
How can this be achieved? One key factor is the weight of the battery, as consumers expect the battery life to last an entire day.To achieve smaller battery size and weight, while ensuring long battery life and image brightness, AR glasses need to achieve ultra-low power consumption.
Trixel® 3 achieves this through efficient optical design, with power consumption below 320mW (for typical AR use cases, with pixel activation rate of 20% and brightness of 5lm).

The optical system is also a crucial factor in achieving a compact and lightweight design. Trixel® 3 weighs less than 1.5g and has a volume of 1cm3. Because it doesn't require any external projection optics or relay optics to couple into waveguides, it can further save space.

To address the challenge of large-scale production, TriLite has also established a partner and supplier ecosystem capable of mass production. This ecosystem includes RGB laser diodes from ams OSRAM, MEMS mirrors from Infineon and TDK, and waveguides from Dispelix.
