One is evolving from lightweight to all-weather, progressing from "like regular glasses" to "are regular glasses." This places more extreme demands on display components: extreme miniaturization, extreme brightness, and extreme power efficiency. Devices released in the second half of 2023, such as Thunderbird X2, INMO Go, MYUV and its development version, Meta Lens S3, all adopt integrated designs, equipped with Micro LED display screens and diffractive waveguide modules. -
The other type emphasizes high-definition and wide field of view (FOV) for augmented reality glasses, catering to immersive movie-watching and gaming experiences. Examples include Xreal Air 2, Rokid Max, Xrany X1, etc. They all feature Micro OLED+BirdBath/freeform optics modules. Due to higher computational power requirements, they generally adopt a modular design, coupled with a control box for usage. Additionally, most of them incorporate electrochromic lenses to enhance the fusion experience between the virtual and real worlds.
