According to news on May 23, technology media TechRadar published a blog post today stating that Samsung’s XR head display and Meta’s Quest Pro 2 head display will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 3 chipset,Thus catching up to or even surpassing Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

It was reported yesterday that Qualcomm is providing test samples of Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 3 (SXR2330) and XR2+ Gen 3 chips (SXR2350) to VR headset manufacturers. The relevant chips are code-named "Project Matrix" and support 16GB RAM, UFS 4.0 and single-lens 4K panel.

Meta Quest 3 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, and the XR2 Gen 3 (SXR2330) exposed this time is the successor chip. Another interesting thing is that Qualcomm has not launched the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip at present, nor has it before. Relevant leaked information has emerged, so companies such as Samsung use XR2+ Gen 3 chips, which is equivalent to a generation apart and is very worth looking forward to.

The media speculates that Samsung, Sony, HTC and other companies may delay the release date of related head-mounted display devices and plan to equip them with XR2+ Gen 3 chipsets to enhance their competitiveness with Apple’s Vision Pro.

XR expert Brad Lynch said that the third generation product will support up to 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and Oryon CPU cores (also equipped on the Snapdragon X Elite), and Roland Quandt also agreed.
