On April 19, 2024, Shanghai Jade Bird Display Technology Co., Ltd. (Jade Bird Display or "JBD" for short) officially launched its AR optical waveguide image quality correction device: ARTCs. The MicroLED + diffraction optical waveguide solution offers advantages such as small size, high brightness, low power consumption, and thinness with high transparency. The solution consists of three parts: the ARTCs optical waveguide image quality correction device, proprietary calibration algorithms, and on-board light engine computing. It aims to eliminate the display irregularities and individual differences present in optical waveguides during actual usage, significantly enhancing the visual experience of optical waveguides.

After testing and data verification, the global brightness uniformity of the diffraction optical waveguide optimized by ARTCs has improved from "80%". The color difference ΔE has decreased from ">0.1" to "0.02", significantly reducing color distortion and visual artifacts such as graininess. The screen uniformity has been significantly improved. Additionally, ARTCs supports real-time image correction at the hardware IC level (Demura), enabling system-level uniformity compensation calculation and image quality optimization for MicroLED microdisplays combined with optical waveguides in a single calibration.

One of the key components of ARTCs is the automated optical waveguide image quality correction device developed by JBD. It features pixel-level color and brightness data measurement, extraction of optical properties of the waveguide, and calculation of correction parameters. Combined with proprietary algorithms for human visual perception, image computation, and display processing, it can quickly optimize and correct the image quality of optical waveguide AR glasses. This provides a one-stop calibration solution for AR terminal brands. Currently, ARTCs-WG has been introduced into production lines and is about to enter mass production and delivery.
This groundbreaking achievement signifies that ARTCs has overcome the previous process limitations of diffraction optical waveguides, significantly reducing the display unevenness in diffraction optical waveguide images, greatly enhancing the visual experience of consumer-grade AR.
